is a multi-disciplinary artist, specializing in archiving and spatial storytelling. Her current work encompasses collaging, painting, and small embroidery to create physical works of art. Through the use of found and collected materials, she constructs and stages immersive environments that celebrate Black life, memory, and imagination. With a deep reverence for vintage Black art and artifacts, her work blurs the lines between interior design and cultural preservation, transforming everyday spaces into living archives.
Holding a B.A. in Communications with minor studies in Studio Art, Tiara approaches her work through multiple disciplines and layered storytelling, drawing from the past to reimagine the present. Her aesthetic constantly reflects an Afro Mid-Century sensibility, merging clean lines and sculptural forms with vibrant color palettes, patterns from across the diaspora, and nostalgic print materials that centers Black people and their lived experiences.
Born in Michigan, raised in South Atlanta, Tiara relocated to Richmond in 2020 with her husband and business partner, before settling in Petersburg, Virginia. There, they purchased and rehabilitated a historic property to establish The Haus on Market, a multipurpose third space and community arts hub. The space serves as a physical extension of Tiara’s design and archival practices, offering space for artists and organizations to create, exhibit, gather, and host programs. Curated with intimacy and intention, this culturally grounding environment considers its visitors throughout generations and industries. The physical space grew to establishing Haus + Market Foundation, a 501 (3) (c) organization highlighting arts, culture, health, and wellness.
Beyond The Haus, Tiara collaborates with small business owners on commercial interior projects, has served as a visual arts instructor with the Boys and Girls Club and Petersburg City Public Schools. Through physical space, education, material exploration, and visual storytelling, she empowers each generation. Through grass roots efforts, she encourages the elder generation to share through preservation, safe keeping and relevance, and encourages her peers to support culture and community through ownership, intentional programming, and building sustainable shared spaces.
